Why Brush Your Tongue?

 In News
If you are brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day, you may think you have good oral hygiene. However – are you making sure to brush your tongue too? The truth is that your tongue is a target for bacteria, just like your teeth!
Although your teeth cannot get cavities, if they harbour bacteria, they can spread it all over your mouth. Think of vacuuming a carpet. If you miss a giant spot in the middle – is it really clean? The mess can spread all over the mouth again, putting all your hard work to waste.
Getting rid of bacteria build-up on your tongue requires more than rinsing. If left on the tongue, these bacterias can lead to bad breath and tooth damage. To clean your tongue, use your toothbrush in a back and forth and side to side motion. After brushing, rinse your mouth with water. Be careful not to be too harsh on your tongue!
